Iatrogenic Nerve Injuries: Techniques of Avoidance and Management (PtS)
This session has been identified and designated as Credit to Address Regulatory Mandate for Patient Safety.
Injury to cranial and peripheral nerves can occur during surgery to the head, neck, and spine. Avoiding and also managing these complications is important to improving patient care. This session will focus on discussing the general characteristics of nerve injury during neurosurgical procedures. Specific management algorithms will then be discussed with regards to managing iatrogenic injuries during cervical spine surgery, carotid surgery, and skull base surgery.
