Minimally Invasive Endocrine Surgery: Is It Worth It?

Session Description

Minimally invasive surgery continues to evolve in the realm of endocrine surgery. Thyroid and parathyroid surgery can be performed through tiny incisions. Scarless thyroid surgery can be performed through axillary and chest incisions or endoscopically. Adrenalectomy can be performed laparoscopically via a transabdominal or retroperitoneoscopic approach. These surgeries can also be performed robotically. This session will provide an overview of the minimally invasive approaches to endocrine surgery and review the outcomes (costs, recovery, complications, recurrence for cancer, patient satisfaction) of each procedure.
