Advanced Trauma Life Support® (ATLS®), is a continuing medical education program designed to teach a standardized, concise approach to the care of the trauma patient in the "golden hour"—the period of time following traumatic injury during which there is the highest likelihood of death.

Target Audience
This activity is intended for health care providers involved in the care of the trauma patient to maintain their current status, including:
- Practicing physicians
- Residents
- Advanced practice clinicians
- Medical students in their final year of study
Learning Objectives
- Demonstrate the concepts and principles of the primary and secondary patient assessment
- Establish management priorities in a trauma situation
- Initiate primary and secondary management necessary within the golden hour for the emergency management of acute-life threatening conditions
- In a given simulated clinical and surgical skills practicum, demonstrate the following skills, which are often required in the initial assessment and treatment of patient with multiple injuries

Financial benefits are usually associated with roles such as employment, management position, independent contractor (including contracted research), consulting, speaking and teaching, membership on advisory committees or review panels, board membership, and other activities from which remuneration is received, or expected. |
Conflict of Interest: Circumstances create a conflict of interest when an individual has an opportunity to affect CME content about products or services of an ineligible company with which he/she has a financial relationship. |
