ATLS 11 - Coordinator Update Course
Overview
The Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS®) 11th Edition is launching in August of 2025! The 11th Edition represents a comprehensive update to a globally influential educational program for emergency trauma care. Rooted in a standardized, systematic approach, ATLS is designed to equip clinicians—regardless of specialty or practice setting—with essential knowledge and skills to rapidly assess and manage critically injured patients. Born from a tragic event and developed to address gaps in trauma response, ATLS has evolved into a vital, evidence-based resource adopted worldwide, impacting more than 1.5 million clinicians and reinforcing the global need for standardized, life-saving trauma care.
The Online Update Courses (Faculty, Coordinator, Educator) for the 11th Edition of the Advanced Trauma Life Support® (ATLS®) course highlight changes between the 10th and 11th Editions – both substantive content changes for learners, and changes to format and delivery for faculty and coordinators. All of the Course components have been completely rewritten and redesigned, and the Update Courses will prepare those involved in continuing to offer high quality trauma education.

In order to be eligible to serve as a Coordinator for an 11th Edition ATLS Course, Coordinators are required to:
- Complete the Pre-Course Survey
- Review the Faculty and Student Codes of Conduct
- Review the Coordinator Update PPT Presentation
- Successfully pass with 100% the Knowledge-Check MCQs (unlimited attempts)
- Complete the Course Evaluation
- Claim your credit for a Certificate of Completion
Once the above required elements are completed, the CMS person profile will be updated with the “11th Edition” tag. Please note that the CMS will not be updated until the ATLS 11th edition launch, in August of 2025.

MyATLS App:
The vision for the MyATLS app is to support and complement the ATLS course, and to be the most updated source for critical trauma care information. This App is a venue for sharing knowledge in new and novel ways that are accessible to a wide variety of learners. Visit MyATLS App | ACS (facs.org), for more information and links to purchase the MyATLS App. The App will maintain 10th Edition content with new content every other “Trauma-Tuesday” and is available for a one-time fee of $9.99. With the launch of ATLS 11, the App will be updated and include new features. Those with the ATLS 10th edition content App, will be provided 6 free months following the upgrade.

Target Audience
This Course is intended for all ATLS Coordinators. Successful completion of this Course is required to be eligible to serve in the role as Coordinator for the ATLS 11th edition.
Learning Objectives
- Highlight the major changes to the ATLS 11th Edition Course.
- Summarize the new format of ATLS, including updated educational components and requirements for learners (e.g. required videos, updated patient scenarios, interactive online modules).
- Describe new (as compared with ATLS 10) preparation necessary to offer ATLS 11 to learners.
Faculty
In accordance with ACCME regulations (ACCME Standard 3), the American College of Surgeons must ensure that anyone who is able to control the content of the activity has disclosed all financial relationships with any ineligible companies in the 24 months prior to their involvement in the educational activity. There is no minimum financial threshold; we ask that you disclose all financial relationships, regardless of the amount, with ineligible companies. You should disclose all financial relationships regardless of the potential relevance of each relationship to this education.
Ineligible Company: Companies that are ineligible to be accredited in the ACCME system (ineligible companies) are those whose primary business is producing, marketing, selling, reselling, or distributing healthcare products used by or on patients. |
Financial Relationships: Financial relationships are relevant if the following three conditions are met for the individual who will control content of the education: 1) a financial relationship, in any amount, exists between the person in control of content and an ineligible company; 2) the financial relationship existed in the last 24 months; 3) the content of the education is related to the products of an ineligible company with whom the person has a financial relationship. |
