2026 MBSAQIP MBSCR Certification Exam Remediation

Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Accreditation and Quality Improvement Program® (MBSAQIP®) Metabolic and Bariatric Surgical Clinical Reviewer Certification Exam Remediation

MBSAQIP® requires that all eligible Metabolic and Bariatric Surgical Clinical Reviewers (MBSCRs) successfully complete annual recertification requirements to maintain active registry access and demonstrate continued competency in MBSAQIP program standards and data integrity practices.

The purpose of the remediation process is to support MBSCRs who did not achieve a passing score on the annual MBSCR Certification Exam. Remediation is intended to reinforce understanding of MBSAQIP requirements, including case inclusion criteria, variable definitions, and other program guidelines essential to accurate and reliable data abstraction.

MBSCRs who did not pass the certification exam will be required to complete remediation activities as determined by MBSAQIP®. Additional instructions regarding remediation requirements, timelines, and reassessment opportunities will be provided directly to affected individuals.

Individuals who do not complete required remediation activities within the designated timeframe may have their MBSAQIP registry access deactivated until remediation requirements are successfully completed.
