2024 MBSAQIP MBSCR Certification Exam
Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Accreditation and Quality Improvement Program® (MBSAQIP®) Metabolic and Bariatric Surgical Clinical Reviewer Certification Exam
MBSAQIP® requires, in addition to the initial MBSCR training and certification, that all eligible MBSCRs complete the requirements of annual recertification. The annual recertification typically takes place in March of each calendar year. The purpose of this certification is to measure the MBSCRs current level of knowledge and understanding of MBSAQIP®, including aspects such as case inclusion, variable definitions, and other program guidelines. Those who pass the certification exam demonstrate competency in the application of the program's rigorous data definitions.
The annual MBSCR Certification Exam will take place each year. The 2024 MBSAQIP® MBSCR Certification Exam opens for MBSCRs on March 1, 2024, and will close May 1, 2024..
New MBSCRs who completed initial MBSCR training on or after January 1, 2024, will not take the 2024 MBSCR Certification Exam. These MBSCRs will be registered for the annual MBSCR Certification Exam in 2025.
Individuals requiring alternate testing accommodations due to a leave of absence (e.g., military deployment, family medical leave, pregnancy, etc.) must contact the MBSAQIP Team mbsaqip@facs.org to request alternate testing accommodations. The leave of absence must be confirmed by the MBSCR’s supervisor or manager.
Individuals who fail to login or take the exam during the testing period will be assumed to no longer be in the MBSCR role, and their registry access will be deactivated unless alternate testing accommodations have been granted from the MBSAQIP Clinical Support Team.
