Depression and Suicide Prevention for Surgeons

Session Description

The economic burden of a surgical career, the debt obtained during training, increased demand for Relative Value Unit production, decreased time with patients, and increased nonconstructive scrutiny from administrative institutions are reasons that have decreased the job satisfaction for surgeons. Depression and suicide are preventable, especially when they are due to burnout. The session will focus on defining the problem and offering solutions for these issues.
