Co-Moderator: Hung-Jui Tan, MD, Durham, NC

Greater use of imaging has led to a corresponding rise in the detection of renal incidentalomas and left many urologists and non-urologists alike unsure of what to do about the masses they have found. One-third of individuals age fifty and older will have at least one renal cyst on computed tomography (CT). Most incidental renal masses are benign cysts requiring no further evaluation. Other possibilities include indeterminate cysts or solid masses, which may be malignant or benign. The Panel Session will review the evaluation and workup of incidental renal masses as well as surveillance recommendations, and management strategies including observation, ablation, and surgery. The target audience will include all those who perform cross sectional abdominal imaging on patients for other benign or malignant conditions or evaluations.
