Join us for the next ACS Quality Grand Rounds session on September 16, at 12:00 pm CT. In this session, Henry Ford Hospital will share how they transformed communication and collaboration across surgical services by creating a multidisciplinary Surgical Quality and Safety Committee. They will highlight practical strategies for breaking down organizational silos, aligning stakeholders around shared quality goals, reducing duplicate work, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement—offering actionable lessons that organizations can apply to strengthen teamwork and improve surgical care.

Learning Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, the learner should be able to:
- Describe how a multidisciplinary Surgical Quality and Safety Committee can improve communication, transparency, and coordination of quality improvement work across surgical services.
- Identify practical strategies for establishing and sustaining a collaborative surgical quality forum, including stakeholder representation, meeting structure, information sharing, feedback mechanisms, and defined leadership roles.
- Apply lessons from Henry Ford Hospital’s experience to reduce siloed or duplicative improvement work and strengthen coordinated quality improvement efforts within their own organizations.

Diplomates of the American Board of Surgery
By attending an ACS-accredited activity, you may choose to participate in the automatic transfer of your CME credits to the ABS via the ACCME. If you are a physician and Diplomate of the American Board of Surgery (ABS). This is a free offering.
Opt in to Automatically Send your CME Data to the ABS
The direct automatic transfer applies to all learners who have an ACS profile, are Diplomates of the ABS, and have provided their ABS ID and date of birth in the ACS MyCME Portal on the Board Certification page.
Step-by-Step Instructions to Access MyCME and Opt in to Transmit Your CME Data:
- Log in to your MyCME Portal
- Select the Board Certification tab
- Enter the American Board of Surgery
- Enter your ABS ID
- Enter your Day and Month of birth
- Next go to the Send CME Data tab
- Toggle to Opt In (green) “Yes! I choose to Opt-in and permit the ACS to automatically transfer all my ACS -Accredited CME data.
Once you have opted to automatically transfer your CME credits to the ABS, please allow 24 hours after transferring claiming your CME credits before you log into your ABS account to confirm the credits are in your ABS CME Repository. You may opt out at any time.
