ADMR: Unique Challenges in Disaster Medical Care for Providers (CE Version)

The Advanced Disaster Medical Response (ADMR) Course is an innovative online program designed for multidisciplinary disaster responders working in domestic or international settings and across a wide range of disaster scenarios. Built around real-world disaster response, the interactive, modular format allows learners to develop knowledge relevant to their roles and response needs.

ADMR was developed in cooperation with the Massachusetts General Hospital Department of Surgery’s International Trauma and Disaster Institute (ITDI), with contributions from 28 medical subject matter experts with extensive disaster response experience.

Principles of Disaster Medical Response — Core Modules

The ADMR curriculum begins with Principles of Disaster Medical Response, a foundational package of seven core modules that provides essential knowledge for multidisciplinary disaster response.

Completion of the Core Modules package is required before enrolling in any additional ADMR packages.

The Core Modules package is available in three options:

Unique Challenges in Disaster Medical Care for Providers

After completing the Core Modules, learners can expand their ADMR training through additional topic-focused packages.

Unique Challenges in Disaster Medical Care for Providers focuses on patient populations and injury types that require specialized considerations during disaster response. Through modules on extremity injuries, burn injuries, pediatric disaster care, and obstetrical care, learners explore key principles for assessment, triage, initial management, and recognition of time-sensitive complications in resource-constrained environments.

This package emphasizes practical decision-making and adapting care to the clinical and operational challenges encountered during disasters.

It includes four modules:

  • Extremity Injuries

  • Burn Injuries

  • Pediatric Disaster Planning

  • Obstetrical Care in Disasters

This package is also available in three options:

Target Audience

All current, future, and interested disaster responders and support groups.

In accordance with the ACCME Accreditation Criteria, the American College of Surgeons must ensure that anyone in a position to control the content of the educational activity (planners and speakers/authors/discussants/moderators) has disclosed all financial relationships with any commercial interest (termed by the ACCME as an “ineligible company”, defined below) held in the last 24 months (see below for definitions). Please note that first authors were required to collect and submit disclosure information on behalf of all other authors/contributors, if applicable.
