Forward2025 Resident and Fellow Trauma Paper Competiton
Overview
The American College of Surgeons Committee on Trauma (ACS COT) announces the call for abstracts for the 2025 Resident and Fellow Trauma Paper Competition (RFTPC).
One winning resident from each Region will attend the Annual Meeting of the Committee on Trauma in Chicago, IL for 2024. The competition will pay for coach airfare to the meeting and up to a three-day hotel stay for each winning presenter (four-days for international participants).
Papers will be presented during the Scientific Session on Thursday, March 13, 2025. All regional winners are expected to attend the COT Banquet on Friday, March 14, 2025, where the winners of the Central competition will be announced.
The first place and second-place papers will be eligible for publication (after the Annual Meeting) in the Journal of the American College of Surgeons.
The purpose of this online component is for attendees to claim their CME credit. Please take this course to complete your evaluation and claim credit.
Target Audience
The competition is open to all general surgery residents, surgical specialty residents, and trauma fellows. Medical students are not eligible.
Learning Objectives
- Discuss current research in patient care for trauma injuries.
- Evaluate new methods for treatment of trauma patients.
Faculty

By attending an ACS-accredited activity, you may choose to participate in the automatic transfer of your CME credits to the ABS via the ACCME. If you are a physician and Diplomate of the American Board of Surgery (ABS). This is a free offering.
Opt in to Automatically Send your CME Data to the ABS
The direct automatic transfer applies to all learners who have an ACS profile, are Diplomates of the ABS, and have provided their ABS ID and date of birth in the ACS MyCME Portal on the Board Certification page.
Step-by-Step Instructions to Access MyCME and Opt in to Transmit Your CME Data:
- Log in to your MyCME Portal
- Select the Board Certification tab
- Enter the American Board of Surgery
- Enter your ABS ID
- Enter your Day and Month of birth
- Next go to the Send CME Data tab
- Toggle to Opt In (green) “Yes! I choose to Opt-in and permit the ACS to automatically transfer all my ACS -Accredited CME data.
Once you have opted to automatically transfer your CME credits to the ABS, please allow 24 hours after transferring claiming your CME credits before you log into your ABS account to confirm the credits are in your ABS CME Repository. You may opt out at any time.
