Highlights of the Multidisciplinary 2018 AAES Thyroidectomy Guidelines: An Expert Panel Discussion (C)

Session Description
Developed by American College of Surgeons surgeons after significant recent changes in the field, the multidisciplinary 2018 American Association of Endocrine Surgeons (AAES) Thyroidectomy Guidelines recommend best practices in topical areas for both benign and malignant thyroid disorders, including: the indications, extent, and conduct of thyroid surgery; the uses of imaging, adjuncts, and molecular testing; the applications of laryngology, nodal dissection, and reoperation; and the special management of hyperthyroidism, familial disease, goiter, and concurrent primary hyperparathyroidism. In an interactive, case-based format, a panel of guidelines authors will present the findings, discuss the challenges, and answer audience questions about this novel aid to the practicing surgeon.
