As the evidence base supporting blood product resuscitation evolves, there has been an increase in the availability of specific adjuncts to the standard red cell, plasma, and platelet transfusion ratios. These products include prothrombin complex concentrate (PCC), fibrinogen concentrates, antifibrinolytics, whole blood, and liquid plasma. The role of these products for bleeding patients in the perioperative state will be reviewed by experts in the field using practical examples that will serve to highlight the benefits and risks of using these products.
