Meeting the Standards: What Every CoC Program Needs to Know

Each year, the CoC Accreditation Committee reviews the CoC standards and compliance and develops guidance that helps the CoC-accredited programs better understand and meet the accreditation standards.  The webinar will review clarifications, modifications, and guidance for select CoC standards and common areas of performance challenge.

The webinar will offer 1.0 continuing education credit for nurses and cancer registrar who are ODS certified.

 

Technical Standards for Thyroid Cancer Surgery

This course discusses evidence-based operative standards for the performance of thyroid surgery as outlined in the Operative Standards for Cancer Surgery, Volume 2. This course will include preoperative considerations for surgical planning and standards for thyroidectomy and lymphadenectomy.

The webinar will offer 1.5 continuing medical education credit for physicians.

VGR: Learning Environment and Learning Culture

The ACS Academy of Master Surgeon Educators Grand Rounds Series is pleased to present this virtual panel discussion with Dr. Amit Joshi, Dr. Roy Phitayakorn, and Dr. Paula Termuhlen, moderated by Dr. Mohsen Shabahang, with welcoming remarks by Dr. Ajit K. Sachdeva. During this session, three leaders in graduate medical education will discuss ways to strengthen a learning environment and its learning culture to improve surgical education.   

 

ACS Current Trends in General Surgery

ACS Current Trends in General Surgery course is designed to provide new knowledge or reinforce existing concepts for use in surgical practice, and to assist in preparation for examinations. It is a pragmatic review covering essential content areas in general surgery. The course has five content modules for purchase:

Module 1: GI Oncology 
Module 2: Alimentary 
Module 3: Breast, Skin, Soft Tissue, and Endocrine 
Module 4: Trauma, Critical Care, and Vascular
Module 5: Perioperative Care

 

Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) Course

The TBI course is a joint initiative of the Brain Trauma Foundation and the American College of Surgeons Committee on Trauma. This online course aims to educate trauma care providers about the key evidence-based recommendations of the TBI guidelines. The Brain Trauma Foundation Guidelines have consistently shown to reduce Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) mortality by 50%. Content includes initial patient assessment, helpful resources, the adult severe TBI guidelines (4th edition), the SIBICC algorithms, pearls of surgical management, as well as an international perspective. The course will be of interest to all clinicians who care for trauma patients, providing learners with current best evidence practices for patients with severe TBI.

Advanced Disaster Medical Response (ADMR) Course

The ADMR course is an innovative, online course designed for all multi-disciplinary disaster responders, whether domestic or international, and regardless of the cause of the disaster. The interactive format, based on real-life disasters, is flexible to meet individual responders' needs and reflects 2024 standards of disaster management. The course was developed in cooperation with the Massachusetts General Hospital, Department of Surgery, International Trauma and Disaster Institute (ITDI). Twenty-eight medical subject experts with extensive experience in disaster response contributed to the content of the course.
