ACS Cancer Conference: Improving Cancer Care for All 2024

The Surgeons and Engineers: A Dialogue on Surgical Simulation is an annual meeting which is designed to convey the exciting ideas and cutting-edge innovations of a unique collaborative community of surgeons, academic and industry engineers, scientists, and surgical education leaders.

 

ACS ASE Medical Student Core Curriculum

The ACS/ASE Medical Student Core Curriculum addresses the competency-based surgical cognitive skills needed by all medical students, not just those pursuing surgery, prior to graduation.

This course is intended for all medical students during their surgery clerkships.

 

2024 Optimal Resources for Breast Care

It is our pleasure to welcome you to the Optimal Resources for Breast Care 2024 (NAPBC standards) course. The new and revised standards set new requirements for the structure and operation of the NAPBC accredited breast centers that reinforces the vision and value of patient centered care. During this course, the NAPBC leaders and ACS staff will provide an in-depth review of the development of the standards, discuss the new requirements and implementation process designed to assist the programs with transition, and outline the changes to the accreditation process that will assess the breast center’s focus on the patient journey.

 

ACS Multimedia Atlas of Surgery Volumes

In these comprehensive atlas-style publications, expert surgeons provide detailed, step-by-step instruction using a combination of video, illustration, and intraoperative photos to clarify specific points of each procedure. There are five interactive volumes, each covering a different topic: bariatric surgery, hernia surgery, liver surgery, colorectal surgery, and pancreas surgery. 

 

Breast Cancer Surgery: Meeting Standards and Improving Outcomes -Enduring

This course will review important considerations for the breast cancer surgery patient, how to improve outcomes by engaging patients as part of the care team, and utilizing education that meets the NAPBC standards. This course is intended for members of the breast cancer surgical team, including surgeons, nurses, cancer registrars, and physical therapists. 

Non-clinical staff are welcome to attend. Following the course, an option for a certificate of completion is available in lieu of credit claiming.

 

Academy VGR: Resident Unionization

The ACS Academy of Master Surgeon Educators® Grand Rounds Series is pleased to present this virtual panel discussion on the topic of resident unionization. 

This activity is designed for faculty, trainees, and graduate medical education administrators. Upon completion of this educational activity, learners will be able to describe the concept of resident unionization in the US. 

 

Residents as Teachers and Leaders (RATL)

The 18th RATL course addresses the essential skills for residents’ lifelong roles as teachers, leaders, and practicing surgeons.

JACS Operative Word Podcast September 2024

Electronic Disaster Management Emergency Preparedness (eDMEP) Course

eDMEP is a fully online version of the Disaster Management Emergency Preparedness (DMEP) course. The overall goals of eDMEP include preparing learners to become ready for, respond to, and recover from disasters; contribute effectively to hospital disaster readiness; and use drills to practice their hospital disaster plan. In this course, learners will have the opportunity to work through a triage scenario, practicing their skills in a low-stakes environment.

 

Clinical Congress 2024

Clinical Congress offers outstanding educational opportunities for every stage in your surgical career—all in one place.

  • In-person attendees are able to experience the onsite program in San Francisco, October 19–22. They also will have access to the livestreamed Convocation, as well as all on-demand recordings, which will be available within a few hours after being presented.
  • Virtual attendees will have access to the livestreamed Convocation and selected on-demand content.

All attendees have the opportunity to claim AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™, earn self-assessment credits, and meet other regulatory requirements until February 2025.
